Todos

Todos is a small Gran Canaria project put together by three friends with the same obsession: the island and its native grapes. The name works two ways, which is the good bit. On one hand it means what it means, everyone, which is the whole idea behind the project. On the other, they’re the initials of the three people who started it. The label carries an inverted triangle, the symbol the island’s original inhabitants associated with Tara, goddess of fertility: a womb holding everything you need for something to grow here, sun, ocean, soil, volcano and wind.

They didn’t plant the estate themselves. It was built over twenty years ago by a retired university professor, in a mountain village where nobody made wine and everybody grew fruit and vegetables, which is the sort of idea that looks daft right up until it works. Over the years it earned its place on the island’s wine map. What the three of them do now is contemporary wine made the old way: grapes from here, and no interest whatsoever in hiding where they come from.
